As the heatwave continues, so does our Summer of Cycling. It is a great time to get out and about on two wheels and get some fresh air instead of being stuck in traffic or on the tube in the heat.
Summer cycling
If you already cycle, why not come along to one of our Summer Discovery Rides on Saturday, 11 August or Saturday, 8 September and explore some of the most beautiful parts of the borough accessible by bike.
Cycle training
If you haven’t cycled in a while, all adults who live, work or study in Ealing can book a free one-to-one cycle training session. Or new for this year Cycle Training UK is offering group cycle training sessions for any small groups, so whether you’re a group of friends, neighbours or colleagues you can learn to cycle more confidently together.
On four Fridays in August we are offering fun family cycle sessions in parks across the borough, so families can learn to cycle as a group and have fun.
Women’s cycling sessions
The West London Breeze group is also hosting Wednesday morning beginners’ sessions in Pitshanger Park throughout August giving women who can cycle but are out of practice the chance to go on gentle rides around the park and on quieter roads. Details of the rides are availabe on the West London Breeze Facebook page.
The group also has other rides for women and Ealing Cycling Campaign offers rides for cyclists of all abilities, including leisurely and family friendly rides, with events scheduled to take place throughout the summer.
Cycle maintenance
The council’s Dr Bike sessions are also continuing as normal throughout the summer, so you can get your bike checked for safety have get basic maintenance done for free.
The council is encouraging more people to take up cycling as part of its Get Moving campaign because it is a great way to get fit.
