Our Love Your Place: Summer photography competition will open on Monday, 10 June and will be themed around photos of events in the borough over the summer months.
It could be one of you, family or friends enjoying one of the Ealing Summer Festivals, local fairs or even a garden party. Capturing a moment of fun; or something unusual; or just a great picture of the events.
There is so much going on in the borough this summer – make it even more fun by sending us a photo (or more) and giving yourself a chance of winning a prize.
We have teamed up with Tonkotsu Ealing for Love Your Place and
the winning entry will win a meal for two people at the Japanese restaurant in Ealing Broadway, to the value of £50.
There are also three prizes for the runners-up – finishing in second, third and fourth places – of rewards vouchers giving the bearers a free ramen of their choice.
The idea of the Love Your Place photography competition is simply for you to show off something, or capture a moment, that made you love where you live. You can view the shortlist from the last competition.
The photo we have used above is a detail from an entry by Ali Moosavi to our previous Seasons of Ealing photo contest last year – of people enjoying the Ealing Summer Festivals in Walpole Park.
THE RULES: HOW DO I ENTER?
Photos must be received by the closing deadline for entries, which is 11.59pm on Sunday, 28 July 2019. After that point, a panel will judge the entries and select a longlist, then a shortlist of eight. These eight shortlisted photos will be showcased on a gallery on this website – and then everyone can get involved because the public will be asked to vote.
First there will be a ‘semi-final’ to narrow down the photos to a top four. Then there will be a ‘grand final’ to select the winner from the top four. In each case, the public will be able to vote very easily on social media – via our Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts.
Once the winner is announced on this website, it will then be published in the Autumn (September) edition of Around Ealing, along with the three runners-up. And Tonkotsu Ealing will look forward to welcoming them, too.
You are allowed to enter more than one photograph if you would like to. You need to email your photo(s) to ealingpics@gmail.com by the closing deadline for your entry/entries to be considered.
For your photo to be considered you must also follow this process:
- Put Love Your Place in the subject line of the email
- Include your name, postal address and phone number
- Include a brief description of what the photo is of, when you took it and where you took it (it must have been taken within the London borough of Ealing and within the last 12 months – i.e. no earlier than 10 June 2018)
- State that the photo was taken by you, and that you also have permission of any people whose faces appear in the photo to enter the photo into the Love Your Place competition
- Make sure the image is of a high enough resolution to be reproduced online and in print (i.e. poor quality images will not be considered).
Other things to know
By entering the competition you are consenting for your photo to be reproduced at any time by Ealing Council in its print and digital publications and channels (including, but not restricted to, Around Ealing magazine, EalingNewsExtra.co.uk website, and the council’s social media). No remuneration will be possible but you will be named as the photographer if it is used on this website or in Around Ealing.
We will not, unfortunately, be able to reply to everyone who has entered the competition.
If any image is deemed not to have been taken in the borough, or to have broken any of the other conditions outlined above, the photo will be disqualified from the competition.
The winning photo, and those finishing second and third in the poll, will be announced via this website as soon as possible after the poll closes. They will further be announced in the next available edition of Around Ealing magazine.
The prizes on offer
