Council leader Julian Bell said: “We have postponed home visits for the time being as a precautionary measure for the safety of residents and green doctors amidst the current coronavirus pandemic. Once the situation improves a green doctor will schedule a home visit, if needed, following your telephone consultation.
“Both home visits and telephone consultations are absolutely free to Ealing residents.”
“As a telephone-only service, we will be reviewing this process daily to assess how we can ensure the telephone consultations continue to be of benefit to residents at this time. We will also review how best to complete home visits in person once the normal service resumes.”
For example, the team can offer you tips on how you might help to reduce your energy use and find lower costs by switching to a better tariff. To make this possible, please ensure you have your utility bills to hand when you receive your call so that the green doctor can ask questions about your energy usage and current bills.
The service will also provide support for any energy or water debt that you may have, and will provide advice on the Priority Service Register and Warm Homes discount where necessary.
The friendly team of green doctors are trained energy advisers, who provide advice on energy saving, bills, and heating systems. The team also give advice on how to save energy around the home. Much like with a home visit, the green doctor will offer advice on a room by room basis and will identify where you might be able to save money and energy.
The call will last between 45-60 minutes, depending on your particular energy needs. Although the green doctor will not be able to install small measures in your home, they will share DIY tips and actions that can be taken right away, where necessary, a follow up visit will be scheduled.
