We have teamed-up with The Joy Club to offer 10 readers the chance to win a year’s free membership. And all runners up will get the chance to grab three months’ free membership.
The Joy Club is an online activity club for people aged over 65 that supports its members to afford a more active and joyful retirement.
It was the brainchild of adventurer and entrepreneur Hannah Thomson, who is on a mission to help recently retired people stay physically and mentally active in a bid to improve healthy life expectancy.
“Everyone deserves a happy and healthy retirement,” she said. “Budget can be a huge barrier to us remaining active in our later years, meaning that a healthy lifestyle may seem like a luxury we can’t afford.
“That’s why I created The Joy Club. Members can gain access to a wide variety of activities that support their wellbeing and bring them joy – all at a deep discount and often even for free – meaning that a limited budget won’t get in the way of enjoying retirement.”
Ealing resident Rachel Brown is part of the team who created The Joy Club, having joined as head of product last year. She said: “I wanted to be part of something that would make a positive difference to people’s lives.” She said that The Joy Club had been designed with its members at the heart of the process, adding: “It’s been a privilege to work with our members to create something that truly fits their needs and brings them joy.”
The competition
To stand a chance of winning, you need to correctly answer the competition question.
From those who get the answer right, 10 lucky winners will be randomly drawn out and will receive 12 months’ free membership of The Joy Club.
All those ‘runners-up’ who answer correctly but do not get drawn out as one of the 10 winners will instead be offered a discount code that would allow them to sign up for free membership of The Joy Club for three months.
The question: Which Ealing venue has been referred to as ‘the cradle of British rock’n’roll’?
To be in with a chance of winning, you need to send in your answers by email to competitions@thejoyclub.com before the deadline of 23.59pm on 30 April 2021. Make sure you use the subject line Ealing News Extra competition or your entry may not be counted – and please include your full name in your email entry. You can only enter once. After the deadline has passed, The Joy Club will randomly draw the winners and notify them by email. All runners up will also be contacted by The Joy Club by email to offer them the consolation prize. If a winner does not respond within a reasonable timeframe, The Joy Club reserves the right to withdraw their prize and offer it to a runner-up instead, randomly drawn out of the list of runners up.
