Have you considered volunteering at a local library? Or maybe you know someone who would make a great volunteer? If so, one of the borough’s libraries could be the perfect place to develop your skills and experience, and provide vital support to the local community.
Volunteering is a great way to meet people and gain experience, it could also help to build your confidence as well as help you develop new skills. Libraries are the hub of our communities and you could play a huge part in making a difference to both adults and children who use the facilities.
There are opportunities to volunteer at the following libraries:
- Acton Town Hall Library
- Ealing Central Library
- Greenford Library
- Jubilee Gardens Library
- Northolt Leisure Centre Library
- Northolt Library
- Southall Library
Volunteer roles could be in the following areas:
- Meet and greet assistance
- Self-service assistants
- Events and activities assistants
- Early years activity assistants
- ICT assistants
- Digital champions
To meet the requirements, volunteers will be asked to commit to a minimum of two hours per week in your chosen library, however the role is flexible and will work around your availability. Your travel expenses will be covered when a valid receipt is provided.

You will be giving back something to our local community and there are opportunities to support residents of all ages as they use the many services that our libraries provide.
