Ealing youth hub, a partnership between West London College and Jobcentre Plus, is opening its doors on 7 February, the first day of National Apprenticeship Week 2022. It aims to remove any barriers that young people aged 16-24 face when looking for work.
Finding the right support to tackle employment challenges can sometimes seem like a daunting task for young people as it might not always be clear who to turn to or what help is available. The hub is a space where young residents can find employment information, advice on apprenticeships, training courses as well as general skills support. It will also be a place to meet like-minded individuals as well as a team of professionals that can provide valuable career assistance.
At the opening, Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for decent living incomes, will cut the red ribbon as a symbol of this positive new beginning for young people in Ealing looking for meaningful work.
A step in the right direction
Councillor Bassam Mahfouz says “We are very excited about this youth hub as it will give young people in Ealing a valuable space to turn to for employment advice and support.
“As outlined in our Plan for Good Jobs, it is a key priority for Ealing Council to help young people get good jobs through training and tailored advice. Particularly during these unprecedented times, when the effects of the pandemic have had a huge impact on the job market, it is important to know that there is help available and ways to access it. The youth hub is a step in the right direction, and we hope that residents will find it valuable and informative.”
David Warnes, deputy principal of West London College, said: “The Ealing Youth Hub will enable us to provide an excellent range of services to young people by joining forces and supporting Jobcentre Plus and partners, ensuring there is no wrong door when it comes to accessing good jobs and developing new skills.”
