The mayor and the leader of the council have made statements on the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
Statement from the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Mohinder Midha:
“On behalf of all the residents of Ealing, I wish to offer our condolences to His Majesty, King Charles III and members of the Royal family on the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
“Flags on Ealing’s public buildings will be flown at half-mast and a book of condolence has been opened at Ealing Town Hall for those who wish to send messages of condolence. An online book of condolence has also been opened by the Royal Household.
Members of the public are invited to leave floral tributes in a special area at the front of Ealing Town Hall. Eventually, these will be turned into mulch and used as fertiliser within the borough’s parks and gardens.
“On Sunday, 11 September, at 2pm the Proclamation of Accession will be made on the steps of Ealing Town Hall. The Deputy Lieutenant, leader of the council, councillors, senior council officers and others will join me in observing the proclamation. The Proclamation is the public announcement of the accession of the new monarch, King Charles III.
“The local Proclamation follows the Accession Council and Proclamations in London on Saturday and in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales at midday on Sunday.
“In recognition of the new Sovereign, flags will be flown at full-mast following the Principal Proclamation in London until the local Proclamation on Sunday at 2pm, when they will be lowered again to half-mast.”
“More details on the timetable for the period of mourning will be announced in due course.”
The book of condolence will be available every day between 9am and 10pm, including at the weekend (but will close between 1-2.30pm on Sunday); and floral tributes can be laid outside Ealing Town Hall.
During the period of mourning the mayor and deputy mayor will not wear chains or robes of office but badges of office will be worn on black neck ribbons. The programme of mayoral engagements has been reviewed to take account of this period of mourning.

Statement from Councillor Peter Mason on the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, 1926-2022.
“The people of the London Borough of Ealing collectively mourn the passing of Her Majesty, The Queen.
“Her Majesty made a solemn promise at the start of her reign that her whole life would be dedicated to our service. Many residents of this borough will recall with great affection the events and engagements her Majesty attended in this borough and reflect on the historic moments that we have as a community experienced together under her moral and spiritual leadership as our monarch.
“The pride and devotion she so often demonstrated to us was reflected with such warmth and grace in the thanksgiving for her service in this the Platinum Jubilee year, at street parties and celebrations across our borough.
“We now share in the grief of the nation and of the Royal Family, that our Sovereign Lady, Queen Elizabeth the Second has passed away.”
