Ealing’s health and wellbeing survey

People from across the borough are being asked to have their say in Ealing’s Health and Wellbeing survey. The listening exercise will take place over the next few weeks, until Thurs, 10 November 2022. The survey is confidential and sharing your views will help the council put together an action plan.

A focus on health inequalities

Ealing’s Health and Wellbeing Board (HWB) is leading on developing the health and wellbeing strategy for 2022-2027, which will focus on reducing health inequalities. The board consists of elected councillors, senior NHS leads, community organisations, Ealing Council officers and patient representatives from across the borough who work in partnership to improve the wellbeing of our population and reduce health inequalities.

‘We want to hear your views’

Councillor Josh Blacker, the council’s cabinet member for healthy lives, said: “Ensuring that everyone across our seven towns is equipped to live a healthy life is at the centre of our work as a council, and we want your views on our strategy going forward. Whether you live or work in Ealing, we want to hear from you about what will make a difference and how we can support you to improve your health and wellbeing.”

The health and wellbeing strategy will look at several themes linked to health including aspects of the physical environment and infrastructure in which we live (housing, open spaces and parks). This will also include how to respond to current significant societal and environmental challenges such as racism and the climate crisis. As well as socio-economic factors including employment, education and financial well-being, access to support and information on areas such as diet and nutrition, physical activity, and the delivery of healthcare.

‘Inclusion and engagement are important’

Councillor Aysha Raza, cabinet member for tackling inequality, added: “Inclusion and engagement are important and we want to understand better how we can tackle inequalities in the borough. With your feedback we will be able to address areas of low income, poor housing, delivery of healthcare and education, to help us shape a health and wellbeing strategy that works for you.”

The feedback from the survey will help the HWB to identify the priorities in the final strategy, outline how services will be delivered and initiate co-developing an action plan with communities in the borough, to support the delivery of the strategy.

If you are interested in taking part in the health and wellbeing survey, read the consultation document and have your say by filling out the online survey. The consultation will be open between 10 October and 10 November 2022. The findings and actions will be published in early 2023.
