Christmas is coming to our towns centres with festivities taking place across the borough in the coming weeks to help residents get in the Christmas spirit and celebrate the holiday season.
Local high streets have also been given an extra sparkle as Christmas lights and trees have been installed across the borough’s seven town centres.
The full calendar of events is supported by the work of the High Streets Taskforce – a partnership between Ealing Council, Business Improvement Districts, traders’ associations and business representatives from each of the seven towns.
On Friday, 25 November, Acton BID hosts its Christmas market and light switch-on event between 10am-6.30pm, at The Mount, W3 (outside Morrisons) in Acton. There will be carol singers, mulled wine, and craft stalls for the family.
And on Sunday, 27 November between 4-7.30pm Pitshanger Community Association will be celebrating its 20th year of ‘Light up the Lane’. The annual Christmas light switch-on event includes shopping, amusements, food, and entertainment supported by 60 independent local traders.
Small Business Saturday returns on 3 December and there is a host of activities taking place across the borough on the day to help residents shop local.
In Acton, the North Acton Square Christmas market is back for its second year. Loom Projects with Park Royal Design District will be hosting the event outside North Acton Station between 11am-5pm, with official festive light switch-on at 4pm. There will be an opportunity to shop for gifts, decorations and crafts made by Park Royal’s artists and makers as well as locally-produced food and drinks.
In Ealing, Make It Ealing is hosting Carols on the Yard!, an afternoon event at Elizabeth Square, Dickens Yard, which will include a Christmas market and entertainment.
While in Greenford, North Ealing Traders (NET) is holding a Christmas tree light switch-on event at the Greenford Memorial Garden (next to Greenford Hall) from 4pm. People are invited to donate a bauble for the tree and some shops will be open for late night shopping.
More to come
Festive activities will continue throughout December and right up to 2 January, so visit the council’s website for a full listing of what is planned.
‘The place to be’
Council leader Peter Mason said: “The borough is the place to be this Christmas, with a full calendar of events and entertainment for all ages to enjoy. Go along, enjoy the festive fair on offer and snap up a unique gift or two for friends and family. We are lucky to have so many fantastic independent traders in the borough ready to serve you.
“Every pound spent locally is invested in back into our neighbourhoods and communities and supports local jobs, giving another great reason to support the local businesses right on your doorstep this holiday season.”
