Residents can now access a one-stop shop for online and in-person training at learning zones around the borough, helping to improve their skills and find good jobs.

There are currently three learning zones in Acton, Northolt, and Southall libraries, right in the heart of Ealing’s communities. Another learning zone in Ealing Library is set to open at the end of May.

Digital access for all

Learning zones are digitally equipped training rooms that have been set up to help learners access flexible training both online and in-person. Learners can link up with the other zones for simultaneous online classes. All digital training rooms have Wi-Fi, laptops and cameras to help residents obtain skills and provide them with the necessary tools to succeed.

Learning zones are part of the wider community hubs, supporting residents to access council services.

Learn Ealing

The learning zones will also be used by council services to deliver training from Learn Ealing, who offer courses and workshops to help Ealing residents return to employment or develop new skills. See the new Learn Ealing prospectus to discover what’s on offer.

Last year, Learn Ealing helped 77 residents achieve positive learning outcomes – 52 learners gained or changed employment and 25 learners received promotions in their current roles, or started a new voluntary position.

Helping people find good jobs

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for decent living incomes, said: “No one should be left behind in a digital world, and our Learning Zones are a brilliant way to make education and training accessible to everyone.”

“All Ealing residents should have access to training opportunities so that they can get back into good jobs that pay well. As part of our Plan for Good Jobs, we plan to deliver 12,000 training opportunities by 2026, which will help so many local residents get into the jobs they want.”

The maths fun fairs and workshops are one of many successful learning zone events funded by the GLA’s London Multiply programme.
