A ground-breaking ceremony marked the start of a regeneration scheme that will provide more than 500 new homes.
The Park Avenue development, a collaborative effort between PA Housing, Greater London Authority (GLA), and Ealing Council, started last week (6 July). Designed with the community’s needs in mind, the plans for this new neighbourhood encompass a diverse range of housing options. They include 123 homes for London affordable rent, 110 homes available for either London living rent or shared ownership, and 283 homes for general sale.
Councillor Shital Manro, the council’s cabinet member for good growth and new housing, said:
“It was a privilege to be on hand for the PA Housing ground-breaking event in Southall. These new homes will provide truly affordable options for the residents of Southall and Ealing. Working with our Greater London Authority and PA Housing partners, we will continue to deliver affordable and accessible housing for Southall and borough residents.”
Supported by funding from the GLA, The Hill Group will undertake the construction work on the project. The first phase will focus on building affordable rented homes. As part of this regeneration initiative, PA Housing residents living in Milan Road will be allowed to move into one of the new homes when ready, offering continuity and stability through their existing tenancy.
The Park Avenue development will have a variety of home sizes, ranging from one-bedroom to four-bedroom units, ensuring that it meets the diverse housing needs of the local population. Each block within the development will also feature a play area, providing safe and engaging spaces for children and a central area for meeting and socialising.
