Do Something Good is a one-stop website supporting people to find advice and access help from a broad range of organisations across Ealing.
It’s a directory which brings lots of information together to enable people to access local support, such as help with food, mental health and other care needs. It provides information to help cushion people who are impacted by the cost-of-living crisis.
Sources of help
The website is compatible with mobile devices and accessible for people with disabilities. It can be used to find details about different sources of help in the community, with filters such as ‘location’ and categories to direct those using it to the information they need quickly and easily.
Councillor Polly Knewstub, cabinet member for thriving communities said: “We know that more and more households are struggling with the cost-of-living crisis, with over two-thirds of residents telling us it’s what they’re most worried about.
“The reality is that people who were previously managing fine are having to make difficult choices as more and more of their household budget gets swallowed up to pay for essentials like energy and food. Our new support directory will make it much easier to access help and support from local charities.”
100 organisations
Currently just under 100 organisations have joined, including Crosslight Advice, Ealing Law Centre and West London Equality Centre. Any local group or organisations who provides services can add their details to the directory.
For example, Destiny House International Church based in Acton have included the details of their Soup Kitchen, which currently serves up to 70 hot meals twice a week on Saturdays and Thursdays. Pastor Cion Morris said: “The church recognises the great need in these difficult times to lovingly relieve hardship by providing hot meals, food bags and occasionally donated clothes to the homeless or those struggling to make ends meet”.
