This Saturday (16 June) marks the start of carnival season as Hanwell is the first of three summer events known throughout the community.
Hanwell Carnival is now in its 119th year. Catch the parade on 17 June as it makes its way from Hanwell Community Centre to Elthorne Park, where the main event takes place from 12noon-6pm.
There will be live music, including well-known band Bible Code Sundays; there will be a DJ; dance; sport; a craft tent; lots of children’s
attractions, including a fabulous animal zone; a dog show, and loads more.
The event is run and organised by the community but it is partially-funded by money from the council’s local ward forums.
Visit www.hanwellcarnival.co.uk for more details.
Greenford Carnival is back on 8 July to get Ravenor Park buzzing. It promises to offer something for everyone, with all its usual family-friendly wares. There will be children’s entertainment, music and stalls. It is free of charge to enter. Visit the Ealing Summer Festivals website.
Acton Carnival takes place the week after, on 15 July, for its 16th anniversary. The colourful procession, which has become a renowned part of the town’s calendar, will begin at Woodlands Park and start the day’s celebrations. It will parade along the High Street with its shiny, often feathery and sparkly, collection of vibrant, handmade costumes; with a DJ spinning party tunes on one of the floats to keep everyone moving. The festivities then culminate at Acton Park, where there will be food, stalls and activities for everyone to enjoy. A wide range of performers will take to the stage all afternoon and into the early evening.
Get involved and check on www.artification.org.uk for updates.
Acton Carnival tickets cost £2 per person, or you can get £5 family tickets for two adults and up to three children between the ages of 12-16. Children aged 12 and under can get in free of charge. Visit the Ealing Summer Festivals website.
