Christmas card competition – the results are in

Back in September, the leader of the council, Peter Mason, launched a Christmas card competition for all school children in Ealing, and the results are in.

We received many entries from across the borough, judging has taken place, and terrific cards designed by local young people will soon be delivered across the borough and beyond. Winners in each of the 3 age categories have been chosen, with an overall winner.

And the winners are!

Winner in the 6 years and under category, and overall winner, is Sherin Shahzad who is 6 years old and a pupil at Dairy Meadow Primary School.

Sherin’s design will be on the front of the leader of the council’s Christmas card this year, and he is going to be visiting her at her school at a special assembly.

Neha Raymona Karunakaran was the winner in the 7-11 category and is 9 years old and attends Stanhope Primary School

Neha’s design will feature on the Christmas card that Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for safe and genuinely affordable homes, sends out to all Ealing tenants this month.

A pupil at Featherstone High School, Chester Colaco won the 12+ category and a special commendation went to Bianca Mocanescu, 11 years at Drayton Manor High School.

Bianca’s design was chosen by the chief executive of the council, Tony Clements and will feature on his digital card.

Creatives of the future

Councillor Mason commented: “Once again the young people of Ealing have done us proud and shown that they are budding artists and our creatives of the future.

“The theme this year of ‘Christmas in the park’ was well represented and resulted in joyful scenes of celebration of our parks and green spaces.

“Congratulations and thank you to all the young people who sent in their designs – choosing the winners was very tough this year”.

Councillor Mason announces the winners in his latest Leader’s notes and also in the winter edition of Around Ealing magazine.
