Stanhope Primary School has been shortlisted for 2 prestigious national education awards that recognise the best schools and teachers in the United Kingdom.
The school, in Mansell Road, Greenford, is in the running to be crowned Primary School of the Year and Early Years Foundation Stage Setting of the Year in the Tes Schools Awards.
The awards, which have been dubbed the ‘Oscars of education,’ celebrate the achievements of individuals and schools.
‘Privileged to be headteacher’
Headteacher Hannah Widdison said: “We are over the moon to have been shortlisted for 2 distinguished Tes awards. To be recognised and selected by Tes is incredible and a result of the passion and dedication of our students, staff team, families and governors, who consistently go above and beyond to make Stanhope the magical school that it is. Every morning I wake up feeling privileged to be the headteacher of such an exceptional school.”
Kat Pietruszka is the strategic leader of early years as part of her role as deputy headteacher. She added: “We are incredibly grateful to Tes for their recognition of the love and effort that we pour into achieving exceptionally high results at the end of early years. It’s a testament to our exciting curriculum and the close partnership, which we share with our wonderful families that makes our setting truly unique and special.”
Outstanding and inclusive
A recent Ofsted Inspection graded the school for the first time as outstanding in 3 categories, and good in the other 2.
Last year, the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) organisation gave the school its Inclusive School Award for ongoing commitment to providing the very best education for all children irrespective of differences; and IQM also designated it as a Centre of Excellence for its outstanding work.
‘Judges made a great choice’
Councillor Kamaljit Nagpal, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for a fairer start, said: “To make the shortlist in these awards is no mean feat and the school really deserves this recognition. Having visited on a number of occasions I can absolutely agree that the judges made a great choice in selecting them – I wish them all the best for the awards night.”
Winners are due to be announced at a glittering gala awards night at The Grosvenor Hotel in Park Lane on 21 June.
