Ealing Summer Festivals are in full swing now and the events are coming thick and fast and Greenford Carnival is back on Saturday (8 July) followed a few days later by the Ealing Beer Festival (pictured).
The carnival takes place, as usual, in Ravenor Park. It promises to offer something for everyone, with all its usual family-friendly wares. There will be children’s entertainment, including free art workshops, funfair rides and sport with QPR in the Community Trust. There will also be live music, baking competitions, dog shows and stalls. It is free of charge to enter and will run from 12noon until 7pm.
Ealing Beer Festival then takes place over four days next week, from Wednesday to Saturday (12-15 July), at Walpole Park in Ealing. Run by CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale), it will feature more than 300 varieties of real ale from all over the country, including a vast and delicious selection from innovative microbreweries as well as top quality wines and spirits. Tickets are £3 to CAMRA members, or £8 for non-members – including a glass to enjoy your drink in; you can get a £3 refund if you return your glass intact.
Acton Carnival takes place on the Saturday (15 July), for its 16th anniversary. The colourful procession, which has become a renowned part of the town’s calendar, will begin at Woodlands Park and start the day’s celebrations. It will parade along the High Street with its shiny, often feathery and sparkly, collection of vibrant, handmade costumes; with a DJ spinning party tunes on one of the floats to keep everyone moving. The festivities then culminate at Acton Park, where there will be food, stalls and activities for everyone to enjoy. A wide range of performers will take to the stage all afternoon and into the early evening. Get involved and check on www.artification.org.uk for updates. Acton Carnival tickets cost £2 per person, or you can get £5 family tickets for two adults and up to three children between the ages of 12-16. Children aged 12 and under can get in free of charge.
