Make it Sunday

Come to party and Make it Sunday

A red carpet, a beach, cocktails, dancing, live music; it has to be summer, right? Welcome to the first of two special Make it Sunday events happening in central Ealing this month. You will be able to choose whether to sit back and unwind or jump into one of the fun activities on offer.

These free fun days will take over Bond Street W5, which will be completely closed to traffic. It will create a pedestrianised area of interactive games, live music, dance, art, cinema, parades and more. Each day will have its own theme, giving Bond Street a truly unique and fun atmosphere.

They are being put on through a partnership of Make it Ealing and Ealing Council. Live music will be supplied through the hugely popular Hanwell Hootie music festival.

The first event is on Sunday, 20 August – and is themed ‘Cool Time Party with Red Carpet Cocktail and Tuk-Tuk, Tai Chi and Sports Fun’. The day of activities comes complete with a ‘real’ beach area, a steel band, flamenco dancing, dance classes, London’s largest Tai Chi session (beginners are very welcome), outdoor eating, graffiti artists, skate board ramps and fitness classes. Tuk-Tuks will be transporting visitors and it will all be followed by a dressy, red carpet cocktail area to relax and unwind in as the summer afternoon turns into evening.

Then, on Sunday, 27 August will come a retro-themed day, ‘Vintage Ealing Through Time and Lens with Art, Craft and Urban Design’. This will take inspiration from the historical association with Ealing Studios during the glorious 1950s and swinging ‘60s.  The day will aim to create a fun day of nostalgia with glossy classic car displays, costumed characters, open air film shows, painting classes, live pottery throwing and historical guided tours. There will also be a picnic zone specially set up.
