Seasonal summer snaps – enter now

It’s time again to get your phones and cameras at the ready, because our next seasonal photo competition is ready to receive your entries.

The winner will again be selected by the public and then published in Around Ealing magazine and on our website. They will also win 4 cinema tickets, thanks to Ealing Picturehouse cinema.

Summertime is the perfect time to get snapping, with all the outdoor events, activities and wildlife out in force. And entries to Seasons of Ealing summer 2024 can be sent in now.

The idea is for you to send in your favourite photos of anything with a summer feel to it. It could be a landscape, a skyline, wildlife, your family playing in the park; whatever captures your interest. The key is that it has to be taken in the borough, by you.

Seasons of Ealing made a fantastic comeback over the winter and spring, thanks to a combination of the exceptional photos sent in by readers (including the picture above by Sally Poynter) and thousands of you helping to choose our winner.

Our spring winner was Natalie Warne, with her picture of garden snails.

Win cinema tickets

As well as seeing her winning entry in the magazine, Natalie also won 4 tickets to Ealing Picturehouse cinema, who sponsored the competition.

Picturehouse is kindly sponsoring the summer competition, too, so there are more cinema tickets up for grabs for our lucky winner.

Get snapping

The summer 2024 Seasons of Ealing competition opens today, 14 June, and will close on Sunday 28 July 2024. At that point, a shortlist will be selected and a public vote will decide the winner.

Our aim is to run the competition every season, giving you multiple opportunities to enter throughout the year.

How do I enter?

Email your photo to aroundealing@ealing.gov.uk by the closing deadline for entries, which is 11.59pm on 28 July 2024.

For your photo to be considered, you must:

  • put Seasons of Ealing in the subject line of the email
  • include your name, postal address and phone number
  • include a brief description of what the photo is of, when you took it and where you took it
  • state that the photo was taken by you, and that you also have permission of any people whose faces appear in the photo to enter the photo into the Seasons of Ealing competition
  • make sure the image is of a high enough resolution to be reproduced online and in print (poor quality images will not be considered) – so please make sure the image is supplied at a size above 1MB and, ideally, 300dpi or more

What happens then?

After the deadline for entries, a panel will judge the entries and select a shortlist. These shortlisted photos will be showcased here on our website and then everyone can get involved because the winner will be selected via an online public poll.

After the poll has closed, the winning photo will be featured in an edition of Around Ealing magazine.
Other things to know

By entering the competition you are agreeing for your photo to be reproduced in Around Ealing magazine, Around Ealing website, and the council’s social media channels. No remuneration will be possible, but you will be named as the photographer if it is used in the Around Ealing magazine or website.

We will not, unfortunately, be able to reply to everyone who has entered the competition.
If any image is found not to have been taken in the borough, or to have broken any of the other conditions outlined above, the photo will be disqualified from the competition.

Will there be more competitions?

Yes, we intend for this to continue and another Seasons of Ealing competition is due to run in the autumn. Keep an eye on Around Ealing magazine and Around Ealing website for details nearer the time. Even better, make sure you are signed up to the weekly Around Ealing Extra email to make sure you get the news first – you can sign up via an Ealing Council My Account or by signing up directly online.
