The Your Voice, Your Town votes are in

Residents across the borough’s 7 town centres have had their say and the results of the Your Voice Your Town voting can now be revealed.

To fit in around people’s busy lives and capture a wide range of views, the council’s Your Voice Your Town team visited more than 50 events in the borough before Christmas, including church fairs, flu jab sessions for the over-65s, exercise classes, a film festival and libraries. People attending were invited to vote for their top priority for change in their neighbourhoods.

Choices included, ‘clean and pleasant’, ‘feeling safe’, ‘green spaces’ and ‘more community facilities.’

A total of £480,000 of council funding this year will be available across the 7 town centres of Greenford, Hanwell, Northolt, Perivale, Southall, Ealing and Acton to pay for projects which support the priorities voted for by residents.

Town teams – made up of residents, community groups and councillors – will be set up to come up with ideas and deliver projects which match their chosen priority over the next year. The teams will be supported by the council

Your priorities: the results

  • Acton: clean and pleasant area 30.9% of the vote
  • Ealing: feeling safe 27.4%
  • Greenford: clean and pleasant area 36.1%
  • Hanwell: feeling safe 34.6%
  • Northolt: clean and pleasant area 37.1%

Getting involved

Blerina Hashani, the council’s cabinet member for thriving communities, said: “Thank you to everyone who voted for their town’s priority for improvement. Now the exciting part begins to turn those priorities into a reality, and we want residents and community groups to lead that change.

“We’ll be holding workshops in over the coming weeks for residents to come along and find out how they can get involved – whether that’s by joining a town team or supporting in other ways. There will also be a chance to share their ideas for projects and meet new people in their communities.”
