Popular local music festival The Hanwell Hootie has been shortlisted for two national awards – and you can vote now to help it to win.
The Hootie, which is just five years old, has been nominated in the UK Festival Awards in two categories: Best Medium-Sized Festival and Best Metropolitan Festival.
Award winners are decided through a combination of online fan votes and music industry experts – and you can vote for The Hanwell Hootie free of charge on the official website.
The Hanwell Hootie was set up by a combination of local residents, businesses and music lovers – with the support of Ealing Council. It is held each spring. You can watch a video (above) of this year’s festival held in May.
It is now run as a community interest company (CIC) and is backed by Marshall Amplification, the global music brand which began in Hanwell. Local boy, the late Jim Marshall, set up shop in the town in the 1960s and served many of the big names on the rock scene while co-inventing a whole new generation of guitar amplifiers.
The UK Festival Awards has been celebrating the efforts of the nation’s festival industry since 2004. The 2017 winners will be announced in November at a ceremony in central London, which attracts hundreds of influential people in the music and festivals industries.
Other award categories include Best Major Festival, Line-Up of the Year, Best Family Festival, Best Overseas Festival, and Best Festival Production.
