Councillor Lauren Wall, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for genuinely affordable homes, explains why the council’s draft new local plan is so important.
She said: “At the end of November, we launched a consultation on our draft new local plan, and it’s not too late to share your views.
“It will help determine how life develops in Ealing over the next 15 years. It touches on almost all aspects of the council’s work, including housing.
“We know that the affordability of housing, where we build new homes and what they look like are important issues for many of our residents.”
A place where people want to live
“Lots of people want to live in our wonderful borough,” Councillor Wall continued. “But there is a desperate shortage of genuinely affordable homes, with almost 11,000 families waiting on the council’s housing register.
“We want to make sure that our housing approach helps to make all of our towns better places to live for everyone, with well-designed, affordable homes in safe neighbourhoods, empowered residents who have ownership of the places where they live, and strong, diverse communities. This is your chance to have your say and help shape these policies.”
Have your say
Councillor Wall added: “Our consultation has now been extended for another two weeks, until the 8th of February. We’ve already heard the views of hundreds of residents and we want to make sure that everyone has a chance to help shape the borough’s future.”
