Ealing celebrates National Apprenticeship Week

National Apprenticeship Week (6 – 12 February 2023) brings together the entire apprenticeship community each year to celebrate everything that is amazing about apprenticeships.

The theme this year is Skills for Life and we have some exciting activities planned for you.

Looking to start your career in construction? Join this webinar to explore what an apprenticeship in the construction sector could look like for you. Ealing has many new developments looking to recruit apprentices in construction projects from building houses to working on the new High Speed 2 (HS2) transport network.

Hear from and speak to local employers looking to recruit, training providers who will support and guide you through the apprenticeship as well as some apprentices themselves. Bring along your questions and learn more about what’s around the corner for your career.

There may also be the opportunity to take part in a site visit to see what working on a construction site is like first hand and meet a local employer.

If you are interested in finding out about apprenticeships this event is for you. Meet apprenticeship training providers and employers from a range of sectors and find out more about what vacancies and training they have on offer. You will also be able to get some quick careers advice, help with building your CV, or even interview preparation. There will also be some short introduction to apprenticeship seminars with apprentices supporting this event who will be happy to talk to you.

We continue our careers fair with training providers and employers and help with your CV and interview preparation. The second part of the event is specifically designed for parents or guardians interested in apprenticeships for their children. You can also speak to the parents of apprentices to find out why they see the benefits of apprenticeships.

Coming to a school near you

We will be visiting various local schools over the next months where we will be talking about an Introduction to apprenticeships.

Giving back in Ealing

Apprentices working at Ealing Council will take part in volunteering at the Felix Project, that collects fresh, nutritious food that cannot be sold and then delivering it to charities and schools to help the most vulnerable in the community.

Good jobs for Ealing

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for decent living incomes comments:

“We have been promoting the value of apprenticeships both at the council and with Ealing businesses. As outlined in Ealing Council’s Plan for Good Jobs, a key priority for us is to support residents into decent, well-paid jobs. That’s why we are committed to securing 2,000 diverse apprenticeships in Ealing in the next three years – an ambitious promise, but one that you – our residents certainly deserve.”
