Summer fun coming to high streets near you

A series of fun, family-friendly events and activities are taking place on a high streets and town centres across the borough this summer.

The exciting programme of events, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Communities and Place Fund, will feature on 13 of the borough’s high streets and town centres over the coming weeks, starting on Friday 9 August.

More than a dozen local community groups and organisations have been awarded grants of up to £5,000 from Ealing Council to deliver these events, where you can try something new – from muay thai (Thai boxing) and bhangra dancing classes to barista and art workshops.

Fun and frolics

The fun starts at the Acton Neighbourhood Festival, with storytelling and a poetry open mic evening taking place at W3 Gallery in the town centre from 6pm to 8pm on Friday 9 August.

Later this month, Movement Makers CIC will be delivering workshops in Ealing, Hanwell, and Northolt, giving you the chance to learn the basics of yoga and tai chi while being fully immersed in electronic music. There will also be a ‘Big Green street party’ in Perivale for families to take part in climate change activities, and enjoy some good food and drink.

‘Bringing communities together ’

Councillor Kamaljit Nagpal, the council’s cabinet member for decent living incomes, said: “I am delighted that the government funding we secured is funding this exciting programme of activities. These events are a wonderful opportunity to bring new family fun activities to the borough’s high streets and town centres, bringing communities together and in turn help support some of the borough’s retail hotspots.”
