Anish Kapoor exhibiting at Pitzhanger Manor House and Gallery

Don’t miss Anish Kapoor at Pitzhanger

There’s still time to see turner Prize-winning artist Anish Kapoor’s stunning exhibition at PItzhanger Manor and Gallery – but hurry because it closes to the public on 18 August.

The exhibition is the first to be shown at the gallery since it re-opened in March. It contains a series of sculptures, some previously unseen in Britain, challenging our traditional notion of form and space by disorientating the view and transforming their surroundings.

If you don’t manage to get to the exhibition, a visit to the beautifully restored Pitzhanger Manor House is well worth it.

The Grade 1 listed Pitzhanger Manor was the home of visionary British architect Sir John Soane, where he experimented with colour and form in the early 1800s to impress potential clients. The ambitious restoration has returned the building to this vision – by reinstating original features like the beautiful glass structures and colourful interiors that became renowned in Georgian London.

The building’s return to public life marked the completion of a £12million conservation and restoration project led by Ealing Council, working with Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery Trust.  Funding came from the council and generous grants obtained from Heritage Lottery Fund, Arts Council England and others.

Councillor Julian Bell, Leader of Ealing Council said: “Anish Kapoor’s wonderful exhibition has been a real highlight at Pitzhanger in the last few month’s since it was reopened to the public and I urge everyone to visit and enjoy when it is still open to the public.”

“Pitzhanger Manor and Gallery is the crown jewel of Ealing’s heritage and is the successful culmination of a careful and meticulous restoration project. It’s an outstanding piece of cultural history and first-class art gallery on our doorstep.”

If you’re an Ealing resident, you can visit the Manor and Gallery for free all day every Tuesday and until noon on Sundays.
