Crime concerns? Tell your local ward forum

Your local ward forum is the perfect place to share any thoughts on crime or anti-social behaviour – and to find ways to solve problems with police and council officers.

Officers attend the forums – which are public meetings led by the ward’s three elected councillors’ and held at least twice a year. They provide updates on crime trends, their work on tackling problems and to advise on personal safety and home security.

Councillors and residents in the West End ward of Northolt recommended spending £1,000 of their ward budget recently to pay for anti-burglary ‘SmartWater’ kits from the Metropolitan Police.

SmartWater is an invisible property marking system, enabling owners to mark their possessions with a dab of liquid containing a unique forensic code. More than 111 kits were provided by officers to households with display warning stickers to deter burglars.

Other wards in the borough, as a result of information provided at forums, have helped to provide CCTV camera units, street lighting improvements and organise alley gating.
