Are you passionate about fostering community engagement and creating vibrant spaces that unite people? The Racecourse Estate in Northolt will witness a remarkable transformation through the Floating Community Room and Grants Funding programme.
Spearheaded by Ealing Council’s Visions for Northolt scheme, the programme invites residents and local organisations to have a positive impact on the Racecourse Estate’s community spaces.
Visions for Northolt has launched the Floating Community Room programme to bring together local people and use existing community spaces across the Racecourse Estate. A total of £12,000 is available to host events, whilst £65,000 is available to improve community spaces. Get involved.
Councillor Polly Knewstub, cabinet member for thriving communities, said: “The Floating Community Room and Grants Funding programme is an exciting opportunity for us to come together as a community and contribute to the vibrant tapestry of our neighbourhood. This is a chance for residents to actively shape the spaces that define our sense of belonging and togetherness.”
The programme in motion
The grant funding applications, live until 15 September 2023, are designed to encourage community involvement, empower local spaces, and foster a stronger sense of community identity. Its core premise is to enhance community venues and promote community events that enrich the lives of Racecourse Estate residents.
Exploring the Floating Community Room
The concept of the Floating Community Room is both innovative and transformative. It serves as a platform to spotlight and uplift existing community spaces in and around the Racecourse Estate. And inspire connection and engagement.
Apply for grants to elevate your impact
Visions for Northolt understands that fostering community engagement goes beyond just spaces; it extends to the unfolding events within them. To this end, the programme offers two distinct grants:
Venue grants: Community spaces on and around the Racecourse Estate can apply for funding ranging from £5,000 to £20,000. This financial support aims to enhance these venues, making them even more welcoming and functional for the community
Activity grants: If you have an idea for a community event or activity, you can apply for grants ranging from £200 to £1,000. This funding empowers you to turn your vision into a reality, enriching the lives of your fellow residents
Councillor Shital Manro, cabinet member for good growth and new housing, further encourages everyone to participate, saying: “Our shared efforts will not only transform spaces but also create lasting memories and bonds that strengthen the fabric of our community. So, let’s come together, envision, and create spaces where memories flourish and connections thrive.”
