Get moving and get training for Ealing Half Marathon

Each year, many people use the award-winning Ealing Half Marathon in September as a goal and inspiration to #GetMoving. Whether you have never run far, or have fallen out of practice, the race team has put together 12-week training plans to get you to the finish line. And they start on Monday (8 July).

There are three plans to suit varying abilities – whether you are a half marathon novice (assumes you can already run a non-stop 5k) or you are an experienced runner – or, indeed, if you think of yourself as an in-between intermediate.

The sessions on the three, downloadable plans are self-led and include a local parkrun of your choice. In addition, Ealing Half Marathon has organised various ways for you to get involved and find support along the way as you prepare for the Ealing Half Marathon. Along with specific training options provided by Equinox Coach and Ealing Fitness Clinic, you can find group runs on the course led by the Ealing Eagles Running Club.

There will be public group runs on or near the official half marathon route, open to all. These will be different lengths – four miles (31 July), five miles (7 August), six miles (21 August) and 13.1 miles (15 September) as you gear up for the big day.

There will also be group training on hills on or near the route (these are also open to all, but you have to register in advance because places are limited) on 13 August and 3 September.

More about the half marathon

Starting in Lammas Park at 9am on Sunday, 29 September, the 13.1-mile course will be run in a single lap, taking in parts of central Ealing, Montpelier, Pitshanger, West Ealing, Hanwell and St Stephens before returning to Lammas Park via the Uxbridge Road.

The roads which the event will pass through will be closed to traffic. There will be a rolling road closure in operation and where possible the road will be re-opened 30 minutes after the last runner has passed by.

The Ealing Half Marathon (which is endorsed by Ealing Council) has been voted the UK’s best half marathon in previous years and it is expected to have 7,000 runners taking part, supported by 700 volunteers. You can find out how to volunteer here.
