Get Moving challenge

Will you step up to the Get Moving challenge?

Are you determined to turn over a new leaf in the New Year?  Do you want to improve your fitness, but need a bit of help to get going? Then the Get Moving challenge could be for you.

We are looking for three volunteers to take part in a challenge to change their lifestyle and become more physically active.

The deal for volunteers

Those selected to take part will get:

  • A personal one-to-one assessment with a qualified OneYou health trainer who will assess their fitness level and lifestyle
  • Help to put together a plan to become more active, through things like walking more, cycling or regular exercise
  • Support to make those changes happen; that might include things like cycling lessons, free bike hire, discounted gym membership or fitness classes.
Share your journey

The volunteers will need to commit to sharing their journey online and be willing to regularly post stories, photos or videos on social media over three months to show how they are getting on. These will be shared on the Ealing London Facebook and Twitter accounts and on the Get Moving page

The focus is on people making lasting changes to their lifestyles to incorporate more physical activity into their routine. Although doing more exercise is a good way to help manage your weight, the emphasis is not necessarily on weight loss and there is no need for the volunteers to talk publicly about their weight.

If you would like to take part, or for more information, email Claire Parker . If you want to apply please email by Friday, 24 November (2017), stating in no more than 200 words why you want to take part. Please include your name, address and date of birth.

The challenge is open to adult residents living in Ealing borough. The successful Get Moving challenge volunteers will be notified by Monday, 4 December (2017), with the challenge beginning in January 2018.
