Bands announced for Hootie – just days to go

With just days left until the fifth annual Hanwell Hootie music festival, the town is gearing up for a day of singing, dancing and head banging, and the bands are tuning up and packing their equipment.

On Saturday, 6 May, Hanwell will be the place to be in London with more than 85 bands playing across 14 venues. The full line-up has been announced and it looks set to be another cracker. There really is something for everyone at the Hanwell Hootie.

If you like you laid-back synth ambience, head to St Mellitus Church to catch Chille and stick around for one of London’s premier choirs Gospel Touch. If you really want to get your dancing shoes on check out Tanz on the Sandy Park stage. Fancy some raucous Celtic rock? Then head to the Village Inn to catch Bible Code Sundays. Never heard Bhangra before? Make sure you are at the new Viaduct Meadow stage to see the amazing RSVP Bhangra. If you love your blues, the Viaduct pub is the venue for you.

Each year another new element is added to the festival and this year is no exception. The festival organisers have taken the event to the next level with a new 2,000-capacity outdoor stage in the Viaduct Meadow (close to the Viaduct pub), showcasing some superb bands from London, the UK and beyond.

Andy McRobbie, one of the organisers, said: “So much work has gone into the organisation of this year’s festival, especially with the new Viaduct Meadow stage. We will have loads of amazing street food vans, too. We are all really excited for the day and hope everyone will enjoy the bands we have selected. Now the only problem is planning which bands to see.”

To help you with this dilemma, you can pick up a free copy of the souvenir programme with information about the bands playing in all official venues; or you can visit the official website www.hanwellhootie.co.uk which has recently had a facelift.

Some other things to know:

  • A free shuttle bus service will be running from Brentford and Ealing Broadway stations
  • There is an online shop where you can purchase Hootie T-shirts in different colours, keyrings, ponchos and tote bags.
