Residents are being invited to take part in a series of workshops, enjoy performances and witness some eye-catching exhibitions as part of the London Design Festival in Park Royal this weekend.

The Park Royal Design District, set within Ealing Council’s creative enterprise zone is hosting the London Design Festival, a 2-day celebration of creative talent in the borough.

The exhibitions are open from 10am – 6pm, with a launch party from 8pm on Saturday 16 September, and from 11am-6pm on Sunday, 17 September.

Highlights include: a sustainable furniture collection launch, street food and artisan crafts, upcycle embroidery workshops and a materials exchange hub. The events take place at a number of locations in Park Royal, all a short walk from one another. Many of the activities taking place are free, but you still need to book your place. Some workshops require attendees to buy a ticket in advance. Please check the Park Royal Design District website for a full list and booking details: LDF 2023 — Park Royal Design District

Councillor Louise Brett, Cabinet Member for Decent living incomes says:

“The London Design Festival is a great example of diversity and creative talent being nurtured in Ealing. Park Royal as a creative hub is a perfect fit with its rich history in the culinary and automotive industries, which now provides vibrant locations for open studios, workshops and design galleries. Although only in its third year, the design district has firmly cemented itself as an innovative creative hub for entrepreneurs and businesses to showcase their talent and continue to grow. I’m very much in support of Ealing’s creative community and hope the design district continues to go from strength to strength.”

Highlights of Park Royal Design District include: a sustainable furniture collection launch, open studios, a market selling street food and artisan crafts, fashion, fine art, sculpture and design, upcycle embroidery workshops and a materials exchange hub.

Creative Enterprise Zone

The borough is part of the Mayor of London’s Creative Enterprise Zones programme and, in partnership with Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC), has the potential to create thousands of jobs in related industries, along with affordable studio space.

The aim of the Acton and Park Royal CEZ is to unlock new opportunities for homegrown creative industries, artists and businesses by driving investment towards the borough’s talent, as well as providing much-needed funding to get projects off the ground.

Designers and specialisms at the festival include leathercraft, millinery, art, furniture design, glasswork, sustainable fashion and product design.
