Your chance to take part in the Mini London Marathon

The council is putting together a team of talented young athletes to represent Ealing at the Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon .

The three-mile race is the official British Athletics road championships for young runners aged 11 to 17.

Anyone who wants to be considered for the Ealing team is being asked to attend parkrun at Northala Fields on Saturday, 20 January. For those who cannot attend that day, there is a second opportunity on 10 March, but this should only be attended by those who are unable to attend the earlier qualifying session.

The council’s sports development team will select the six fastest male and six fastest female athletes in each category to represent the borough at the event on Sunday, 22 April 2018.

Mini London Marathon age categories

Boys and Girls – Under 13

  • Must be at least 11 years old on 22 April 2018
  • Born between 1 September 2004 and 22 April 2007

Boys and Girls – Under 15

  • Born between 1 September 2002 and 31 August 2004

Boys and Girls – Under 17

  • Must be aged under 18 on 22 April 2018
  • Born between 23 April 2000 and 31 August 2002

Only those living or attending school in Ealing borough are eligible for the Ealing team.

Anyone who wants to take part must register for parkrun no later than 6pm the day before the run and must bring their barcode so that they can be officially timed. Parents and carers of younger children will need to remain onsite during the race.

To register an interest in being considered for the team, e-mail Jo Valks no later than Sunday 11 March with the following information:

  • Name of runner
  • Date of Birth
  • Address and postcode
  • School
  • Telephone number

No late entries will be accepted.
