Ealing will be buzzing with summer vibes over the next month with a series of free pop-up events and activities. A beach, a children’s fun bus and arts and crafts are just some of the events that will be on offer.
Beach life comes to Ealing-on-Sea
A little piece of the seaside is coming to Ealing. Let the children build sandcastles while you relax in the sun with the sand between your toes. A pop-up beach in Ealing Green where you can kick-back and relax with the promise of ice cream? Yes please. There will be sand (lots of it), deckchairs, buckets and spades and more on Friday, 12 and Saturday, 13 August.
Children’s activity bus
The bus is home to giant chess games, snakes and ladders, DJ decks and arts and crafts and more. It offers a fun and interactive way for children of all ages to explore and learn while playing. The bus will be traveling to different locations around the borough every Wednesday in August between 11am and 4pm. See below for dates and locations.
Calling all artists
You will also have the chance to share your artistic skills to help create a giant collage using fabric and paper outside Ealing Town Hall. The art event is being delivered by OPEN Ealing and West London Arts Scene. Professional artists will also be on hand to offer hints and tips as people try out their painting skills on a large canvas. The art events will take place every Friday in August outside Ealing Town Hall between 12pmm and 4pm.
‘Fun and free’
Councillor Julian Bell, leader of Ealing Council said: “These are fun, free events and the pop-up beach will be a great way to enjoy the seaside without having to travel to the coast.”
The events have been planned by Ealing Council’s economic regeneration team using funding from the New Homes Bonus – a grant paid by central government to local councils for increasing the number of homes in their area.
Key dates and information
The pop-up beach will be at Ealing Green on Friday, 12 and Saturday, 13 August
The bus will be based at the following locations from 11am to 4pm:
- The Mount, Acton W3 9NW on Wednesday, 3 August
- Ruislip Road, Greenford on Wednesday, 10 August
- Ealing Town Hall forecourt on Wednesday, 17 August.
The art events will take place every Friday in August outside Ealing Town Hall from 12pm to 4pm.
