Say hi to lemurs, and enter our zoo competition

Have you visited Hanwell Zoo with your child recently? Going over Easter? Share a photo of your visit with the zoo for a chance to win a cuddly toy animal from its gift shop.

Above, you can watch the first in our new Animal of the Week video series about some of the inhabitants of the zoo. As the weather starts to improve and more people look to get out and about, the zoo is a little oasis on our doorstep many will pay a visit to. Each week, on Ealing Council’s YouTube channel and social media, a new video will be released over the next eight weeks.

The trio of black and white ruffed lemurs are well worth getting to know. They arrived six months ago to join – among others – the monkeys, armadillos, grey slender loris, meerkats, capybaras, ants, miniature donkeys, tortoises, wild array of birdlife – and bunnies – that already call Hanwell Zoo home.

Give it a watch and, then, why not give our competition a go?

If you have been to the zoo over the last year, or perhaps are going over the Easter holidays, take a snap of your child(ren) next to one of the animal or bird enclosures, or enjoying themselves at the zoo, and share it with the zoo on Facebook or Twitter.

A lucky winner will be selected by the zoo keepers and will get a chance to come into the gift shop to claim a free cuddly toy.

How to enter

To be in with a chance of winning, make sure you follow all of these four steps.

  1. Share your photo (make sure you have permission to include anyone in the photo who is not yourself) on either Facebook or Twitter by 23.59pm on Saturday, 30 April 2022
  2. @ both the Hanwell Zoo and Ealing Council accounts: Use @HanwellZoo and @EalingCouncil on Twitter; or @HanwellZoo and @EalingLondon on Facebook
  3. Use the hashtag #HanwellZoo
  4. Make sure you are following the Hanwell Zoo account you shared the photo with, so you can be sent a direct message if you win.

If you fail to follow any of these steps, your photo might not be considered, so make sure you check the steps before posting.

After the deadline has passed, the zoo keepers will select the photo they like best and the lucky winner will be contacted by direct message to let them know they have won – and how to claim their prize. No monetary alternative will be available.

More to come

See the summer edition of Around Ealing magazine, out in June, for a competition offering you the chance to win a ‘family friend’ season ticket to the zoo (for you and a child).
