Picture 7 Katarzyna Kicinska

A ‘photo finish’ in close competition sees snail win

This beautiful image of a snail was the winner of our first Seasons of Ealing photo competition after hundreds of you voted for your favourite from a selection of wonderful autumnal pictures taken by our readers.

Your winning photo, which you can view above, was taken by Katarzyna Kicinska of Greenford. It is of a white lipped snail on a colourful, autumn leaf. The photo was taken at the beginning of October in Perivale Park. Katarzyna’s picture will be used on the front cover of the December edition of Around Ealing magazine.

Picture 5 Vahe Saboonchian
Runner-up by Vahe Saboonchian

Our runner-up, finishing only 51 votes behind, was Vahe Saboonchian of Ealing and a dramatic photo taken at Pitshanger Park, with a tree at the centre of the image. Vahe described it this way: “It was a cold, foggy morning and the sun was trying to break through the fog. This provided gorgeous autumnal colours all around.” Vahe’s picture will be on page four of the December edition of Around Ealing magazine.

We picked a shortlist of nine – and then a public poll on the Ealing London Facebook page allowed residents to vote for the winner. Well done everyone who was shortlisted.

All nine of these shortlisted photos are still being showcased in a gallery for you to take a closer look at.

Get ready to try again in the next Seasons of Ealing competition…
