Transform Your Space at Copley estate in Hanwell

Transform Your Space is back

Ealing Council’s Transform Your Space initiative has already helped community projects flourish across the borough and is back for 2019 – and local people can find out about how to get involved at a launch event held in Southall next month.

This year’s launch takes place on Thursday 7 February (6.15pm – 8.30pm) at Southall Manor House. It will open the programme for 2019 and provide an in-depth look at how local people can get involved and secure funding for their projects through Transform Your Space.

Staff will be on hand to answer questions and attendees will be able to hear from residents who are currently running community projects and able to share their strategies for success.

Transform Your Space is a special fund that has been helping residents restore unloved corners and bring them back into community life. It works by providing match-funding and council support to successful bids.

The initiative has already seen a number of successful community projects come to fruition across the borough, including an inspiring trail of woodland walks at Copley Close in Hanwell, the Piggeries Orchard project on the Grand Union Canal and Katherine Buchan Meadow, a community space in Old Hanwell,

The latest round of the initiative is inviting applications from community groups wanting to transform a space within Ealing – and £100,000 is available for projects that will make a difference.

Councillor Mik Sabiers, cabinet member for environment and highways said: “Transform Your Space provides opportunities for residents to help create a sense of pride in their local area and we have seen some amazing projects come to life across the borough recently.

“It could be anything from planting bulbs at a local green space, to renovating a local school hut to hosting a reading club for elderly people.

“I would encourage anyone who has thought about a local project to come along to the launch event next month and find out what the initiative is all about.”
