The Ealing Music and Film Festival is back in February for its eighth year of concerts, movie screenings and creative workshops. And, like last year, we have teamed up with the organisers to offer you the chance to win tickets to two of its shows.
So, this Valentine’s week (between 12-16 February), why not leave the chocolates and cards to one side and let the festival light up the grey days and cold evenings?
Its eclectic programme takes in classical concerts, opera, blues, jazz and soul; plus classic films, a play and workshops for budding musicians, future video stars and much more. There is something for everyone – all highlighting the borough’s rich cultural history.
Events will be held across the borough – and, this year, there will be a number hosted by the University of West London (UWL).
As well as a dazzling array of music, and an impressive roster of classic films being screened, there will be several workshops: One on percussion, by Ealing Percussion Academy and London College of Music Percussion, giving families the chance to try out instruments; one on vlogging and on-screen presenting skills; and another, given by LCM College Music Technology Workshop, will offer 15-19 year-olds the chance to create sounds and effects for films and video games and is led by renowned DJ, producer, lecturer Jay Daniel (aka J.Daniel). There will also be talks and the aforementioned piece of theatre, which will see UWL acting students stage Enron.

The competition
The Ealing Music and Film Festival Trust is offering two lucky winners a pair of tickets each – valid for one of two concerts: Either to see the award-winning choir, Tenebrae (pictured above), known as one of the world’s finest vocal ensembles, on Thursday, 13 February (at 7.30pm at UWL); or to see the Ealing Youth Orchestra, featuring BBC Young Musician of the Year 2018 finalist Rob Burton and the accompaniment of the London Mozart Players on Friday, 14 February (at 7.30pm at St Barnabas’s Church in Ealing). Ticket values are 2x£25 and 2x£20 respectively.
When entering the competition, you must state your choice of concert because one winner will be drawn for each pair of tickets and, if you answer the question correctly, you will be entered into the draw for the concert you stated a preference for.
To have a chance of being one of the two winners, you must answer the following question correctly and email it to aroundealing@ealing.gov.uk by the closing deadline of 11.59pm on Sunday, 2 February 2020. To be included you must use the subject line: Festival competition. Please state your name, postal address and phone contact details – and of course, your choice of concert.

The winners will be drawn at random on 3 February and only the winners will be notified. They will then be contacted by Ealing Music and Film Festival Trust to arrange collection of their prize. No monetary alternative will be offered instead.
