This was our winning autumn photo. Could you be our winter winner? We’ve opened our latest seasonal photo competition – the winter 2024/5 Seasons of Ealing is here.
As well as seeing the winning entry in the magazine, the winner will also receive 4 tickets to Ealing Picturehouse cinema, which is sponsoring the competition.
Entries to the latest Seasons of Ealing can be sent in from today. You know the rules by now. The idea is for you to enter your favourite wintry snaps. It could be in your local park, back garden or even in your street. It could be a landscape, a skyline, wildlife, a family day out – get creative. The key is that it has to have been taken in the borough – and, it must have been taken by you.
And the winners were…
After receiving more than 100 entries, our panel had the task of trimming them down into a shortlist of 10 photos. It was not an easy task. These were then put to a public vote to choose the winner, during November.
The winner was Inna Ryskal, of Ealing, and her picture of a misty day at Ealing Common (pictured above).
As well as the photo appearing here and in Around Ealing magazine, they will receive the top prize of 4 tickets to watch a film at the new Ealing Picturehouse cinema.
In second place was Hanwell resident Nicola Goddard, with a photo of mushrooms in Perivale Wood.
And in third place was Eszter Bán, of Acton, with a photo of her friend and one of the local cats.
Well done to everyone who was shortlisted and thank you so much to everyone who took part.
Could you be a winter winner?
Email your photo to aroundealing@ealing.gov.uk by the closing deadline for entries, which is 11.59pm on Sunday 5 January 2025.
For your photo to be considered, you must:
- put Seasons of Ealing in the subject line of the email
- include your name, postal address and phone number
- include a brief description of what the photo is of, when you took it and where you took it
- state that the photo was taken by you, and that you also have permission of any people whose faces appear in the photo to enter the photo into the Seasons of Ealing competition
- make sure the image is of a high enough resolution to be reproduced online and in print (poor quality images will not be considered)
What happens then?
After the deadline for entries, a panel will judge the entries and select a shortlist. These shortlisted photos will be showcased here on our website and then everyone can get involved because the winner will be selected via an online public poll.
After the poll has closed, the winning photo will be featured in an edition of Around Ealing magazine.
Other things to know
By entering the competition, you are agreeing for your photo to be reproduced in Around Ealing magazine, on this website, and the council’s social media channels. No remuneration will be possible, but you will be named as the photographer if it is used in the Around Ealing magazine or website.
We will not, unfortunately, be able to reply to everyone who has entered the competition.
If any image is found not to have been taken in the borough, or to have broken any of the other conditions outlined above, the photo will be disqualified from the competition.
